RETREAT LEADERSHIP

Joyce MacKichan Walker retired in 2018 after thirty years of ministry at the Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton NJ as Minister of Education and Mission and Director of Christian Education. She is a 1979 graduate of the Presbyterian School of Christian Education (now Union Presbyterian Seminary) in Richmond VA, a Certified Christian Educator since 1983, and a Minister of Word and Sacrament since 2007. Her first love is teaching, which she actively practices as instructor of Certification classes for Christian educators and for Older Adult Ministry, Adjunct Professor at Princeton Theological Seminary, and as a keynote speaker and workshop leader. In addition to co-writing two books and a multitude of leader’s guides, her recent writing projects include articles for Presbyterian Women’s Horizons magazine, the APCE Advocate, hope4ce.net, and the theology module team for the Opening Doors to Discipleship project (odtd.net).

WORSHIP LEADER

Bonnie Robertson Edwards is happily retired after 35 years as a Christian Educator in PCUSA and United Methodist churches. Her last 30 years were spent at the First Presbyterian Churches of Tyler and Dallas, TX.  Since retirement she has become a certified Master Naturalist, so look for her outdoors, rain or shine. She attended Solar School at Ferncliff in October of 2019, and now serves on the Solar Under the Sun board of directors. She and her husband, Jarrett, served in mission work for two years through Lutheran Social Services In the Virgin Islands.

Bonnie enjoys gardening, hiking, biking, riding her scooter, running,  reading, and travel. She grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and returns there as often as possible. She and Jarrett celebrated their 50 anniversary this fall. They have one son who lives in Utah with his wife and four children.

During the Covid pandemic in 2020, Bonnie began a practice of taking a daily walk and creating a design using (mostly) natural materials, and posting them for 99 days on Facebook.

POAMN’s Leadership Retreat was offered in partnership with the Office of Christian Formation of the Presbyterian Mission Agency.
