POAMN requests your submissions of creative ways to minister to older adults for the 2025 Older Adult Ministry Planning Guide.
This guide helps ministry leaders implement new ways of celebrating, stimulating, and fostering the spirituality of their older congregation members. Past guides have featured articles on:
- workshop or enrichment activities for older adults
- mental or physical health programs
- end of life preparation and care
- isolation and loneliness in seniors
- intergenerational activities
- caregiver support
Articles should be 500 to 2,000 words with details for replicating your program, event, or ministry in another community. Share how you came up with the idea and how you implemented it. Readers also value knowing the budget, what worked, and what you would do differently. Photographs are appreciated.
Email your article to poamnetwork@gmail.com by December 15, 2024. Articles may be edited for style or space considerations.
If you aren’t a writer but have a good story or program to share, please send a rough description or bullet points by the deadline. We can work with you to develop it into an article.
The guide is published in the first quarter of the year to give leaders time to plan for Older Adult Sunday.
The Presbyterian Church (USA) designates the first Sunday in May each year as Older Adult Sunday. In 2025, this will be May 4. POAMN encourages you to extend the recognition of older adults to a full week or month.
POAMN members receive a complimentary print copy of the guide by mail. Join by January 1 to receive your free copy.
