OLDER ADULT MONTH
A special emphasis week for those 65 and above was adopted by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) General Assembly in 1992. This annual event is observed in the first full week of May. In 2024, the celebration begins May 5 with Older Adult Sunday. Begin planning your celebration of older adults now.
Older Adult Month Resources
POAMN produces an annual guide with program ideas and resources for celebrating older adults in your congregation and community. Check out the 2023 guide for program ideas and volunteer opportunities for older adults. The 2024 guide is in production. Become a member to receive a free copy by mail.
Rev. Burnetta Armour, pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, GA, designed a service around the theme of the journey of life. The liturgy ideas, prayers, and resources can be used in a congregational worship or may be adapted for a retirement community or other setting. Look for other worship ideas in past Planning Guides.
