2022 FALL COHORT
The Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network (POAMN) is pleased to partner with the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Office of Christian Formation to offer an online, coach facilitated cohort focused on strengthening, nurturing, and supporting leaders of older adult ministries. The study group will consist of 5 to 8 people and will meet for five 90-minute sessions. Group members will select their own area of focus and develop individualized goals designed to cultivate their older adult ministry. The coach will guide and facilitate each session, foster a positive environment for exchanges and conversation, and provide feedback for individual projects. Participants are expected to be active partners in learning: supporting, guiding, and resourcing the group and to attend each of the weekly sessions.
he cohort is open to POAMN members and non-members who hold leadership roles in older adult ministry. Participants are asked to make a $25 contribution to the POAMN General Fund at the time of registration.
“Exploring End of Life Challenges: Not Just for Older Adults” End of life choices can be daunting, impacting multiple generations, creating stress, and raising anxieties. This group coaching cohort is for those who wish to prepare congregation members and friends of all ages to make faithful decisions around the end of life. Participants will explore end-of-life topics that most address the needs of their congregations or ministry settings. For example, they may wish to address topics such as Christian beliefs about death, legal matters, death with dignity, advanced directives, physician-patient relations, rites and rituals, loss and grief, generational connections, or other critical issues of interest to them and those whom they serve. There will be a 30 minute virtual orientation on October 7. The Zoom link will be provided to the cohort prior to the October 7 Orientation.
Leadership: This cohort will be coached by Sarah Erickson. Sarah is an engaging and skilled coach, with experience developing older adult ministry leaders. She serves as the Director of Lifelong Learning at Columbia Theological Seminary and the POAMN Certification Coordinator.
