The needs and focus areas of older adults are always evolving; what was popular or needed ten or twenty years ago is not necessarily the same in 2024 and beyond. So, cognizant of this and the need for our volunteer organization to be efficient and relevant, POAMN is conducting an extensive strategic planning exercise in February from which we anticipate a new structure to our Board, with inevitable changes to our by-laws and other governing documents.
We have selected a team of five to spend 2-3 days at PC(USA) in Louisville to huddle and strategize. Some of the team have familiarity with POAMN in the past, some are currently involved in POAMN’s leadership, and some are completely new to POAMN. We believe this gives us the broadest spectrum from which to imagine and think outside the box. The team is: Cindy Wright, Rev. Zeena Regis, Rev. Denise Shannon, Bill Wildey, and Chris Pomfret.
We welcome your ideas or opinions for the team to consider. Please send to Chris Pomfret or Cindy Wright by February 1 and we will be glad to include them in our deliberations.
We will be reporting the outcomes of the exercise as soon as we have something formulated, probably early March, so stand by for updates. We are grateful for the support of the Office of Christian Formation within the Presbyterian Mission Agency for their financial underwriting of this exercise and for providing advice, steering, and specialist professional input as needed.
